Naturopathy
Naturopathic Medicine
Naturopathic Medicine is a primary health care profession focused on prevention and the use of natural treatment options to promote healing. The primary goal of naturopathic medicine is to address the root cause of an illness rather than treating or suppressing the symptoms. Naturopathic Doctors (ND) work in partnership with other regulated healthcare providers to ensure that patients receive the most effective care possible. ND’s are the only regulated professionals in the field of natural medicine in Ontario. They are extensively trained and have at least seven years of post-secondary education. ND’s treat anything from the common cold to chronic illness with Clinical Nutrition, Herbal medicine, Homeopathic medicine, Traditional Asian medicine and acupuncture, and physical therapy and lifestyle counseling. An initial visit lasts 90 minutes to 2 hours during which an extensive health history is obtained and an individually tailored protocol is established.
