Meet Our Therapists

Amber Wallace, CAT(C), BSc KIN

LK7_4022.JPG After graduating from York University with a Science degree in Kinesiology and Certificate in Athletic Therapy, Amber became a Certified Athletic Therapist in June 2006.  While at York, Amber worked with the varsity volleyball, hockey and soccer teams and was selected to be a therapist with the Toronto Argonauts Football team.  She has experience with many other sports including gymnastics, swimming and baseball.  Amber has been a therapist for York Region high school rugby and OFSAA tournaments, and also for SAC Summer Camps and Roger Neilson’s Hockey Camp.  Amber also spent a year as a therapist with Trinity College School, where she provided field and clinical therapy for the student athletes of Trinity’s 19 varsity sports.
As an Athletic Therapist, Amber uses a variety of techniques and exercises to create a rehabilitation program that is suited for each individual.  She has completed courses in Soft Tissue Release and Muscle Energy Techniques.  Amber will combine the use of therapeutic modalities, such as ultrasound and interferential current, with manual therapy techniques in her treatment plan.  She also focuses on preventing injury and provides patients with a home program for continual care.
Amber grew up in Newmarket and has been a player and coach with Newmarket Minor Softball Association for over 15 years.  She is very excited to be working at Align Health Centre in her own community.

Pamela Fernell, RMT

LK7_3968.JPGA graduate of Sir Sandford Fleming College in 2007, Pamela Fernell began her career in Brockville, Ontario quickly relocating to Align Health Center in Newmarket. A highly successful background in track and field competing at the Provincial level over a 10 year period helped Pamela discover her future career at the young age of 12.

A certified Hot Stone Therapy Practitioner, Pamela is able to use hot stones when deep tissue work is indicated but not well tolerated by a client. Although Hot Stones are well known for being relaxing they also have many therapeutic properties as 1 stroke with the stone is equivalent to 8 strokes of a hand. When evaluating a client’s condition, Pamela takes into account and thoroughly examines the big picture in order to discover the root of the problem. She excels at communicating with clients, whether explaining treatment objectives and anticipated results or simply putting clients at ease before, during and after a treatment. Pamela particularly enjoys prenatal and various sports injury massage treatments and has demonstrated an affinity for deep tissue massage.

Pamela will actively stretch and or strengthen the target muscle during treatment if needed and will take time to outline proper exercises and home care after the treatment, explaining the risks and benefits of compliance or disregard for such activities.

In her time off, Pamela enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, skiing and traveling. If you need to discuss a treatment plan customized to meet your specific needs, Pamela would welcome the opportunity.
